According to a recent report by Marca, Arsenal are lining up a move to secure the services of Joan Jordan from SD Eibar next summer. The same source has also revealed that the Gunners have monitored the Spanish midfielder’s performances this season and are ready to make an offer for him at the end of this campaign.
The Regencos born talent came through the youth ranks of FCD Espanyol and also had a season-long loan spell at Real Valladolid back in 2016. He failed to prove his worth at RCDE Stadium and was soon shipped out to Eibar in the summer of 2017.
The 24-year-old has enjoyed a solid campaign thus far under José Luis Mendilibar’s stewardship after putting in a series of commanding displays for them during this campaign. Jordan has featured in 29 appearances for Eibar this term, scoring three goals while grabbing four assists in all competitions.
The La Liga prospect has been able to establish himself as a regular first-team starter for the past two seasons and could be ready for a big move to Arsenal next summer. His stock keeps rising with each game, so the Gunners will do well to prize him away from Spain ahead of the new campaign.
Jordan is a very useful dribbler with the ball and can link up play well in the opposition half. He is also a potent goal-threat from long-range as his shots are often accurate and pack a lot of power.
The potential acquisition of Jordan will undoubtedly bolster Emery’s midfield options at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal currently have a few talented midfield options in their ranks such as Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi, Granit Xhaka, Joe Willock and Mohamed Elneny vying for a midfield berth in Emery’s starting XI. However, Jordan has the potential to give any of them a run for their money for a place in the Gunners first-team.
At 24, the Eibar midfielder is about to embark upon the peak years of his career which Emery could look to benefit from in the coming years. Hence, the North London outfit should look at bringing the Spaniard to the English top-flight this summer.
