According to Sky Sports, Everton midfielder Andre Gomes has said that he is ready to wait for his future to be decided. The player arrived on loan from Barcelona last summer and has been one of the mainstays in the midfield for the Toffees alongside Idrissa Gueye.
The Portuguese midfield ace did not have a good time with the Catalan giants following his move to the Nou Camp from Valencia and went down the pecking order under the tutelage of manager Ernesto Valverde.
With the likes of Andres Iniesta, Ivan Rakitic, Sergio Busquets and Paulinho in the side, there was very limited opportunity for Gomes to make it into the first team and he was eventually loaned out to Everton during the last summer transfer window.
The move, however, has proved to be a turning point in his career. The player has proved his mettle in the Everton lineup under the tutelage of manager Marco Silva and has struck a rich vein of form, justifying his high rating in European football. His partnership with Gueye in the midfield has been one of the high points for the Toffees this season in the Premier League.
Everton are reportedly willing to land the player on a permanent basis after his loan stay is over. However, they have not been able to strike a deal with Barcelona as of yet, and the Portuguese ace is now ready to see what the future holds for him.
It goes without saying that if the Merseyside club can get their desired player, i.e., Andre Gomes, on a permanent basis, it would be a big boost for them ahead of the next season. The Toffees have failed to capitalise on a decent start this season and are struggling to finish on a respectable position at the end of the campaign. Marco Silva should already start planning for the new season well in advance to avoid the dismay they have had to go through this season.
From Gomes’ point of view as well, with the likes of Arthur, Rakitic and Busquets starting regularly and Arturo Vidal already establishing himself as an outstanding back up in the midfield, there would be very less chance for the Portuguese to get a place in the starting lineup at Barcelona. So it would be a right decision for both the club and the player if Everton can land Gomes on a permanent deal next summer.
