Easter Road saw a frantic and a heated game between Rangers and Hibernian FC as both teams had to be satisfied with a draw. Rangers would be disappointed as they should have been well ahead, but they were not clinical in the final third and the game ended 1-1.
The Gers dominated the first half and they must have felt unlucky to go in at half time with just a goal advantage. Hibernian almost made it to the half time unscathed but Daniel Candeias curled a brilliant effort with his left foot to give his side a lead just before the first half ended. Before that, Hibernian were in dire straits as they had to throw bodies everywhere to keep themselves in the game.
The home team improved themselves in the second half after a dreadful first-half showing. They came close to equalising early on in the half, but McGregor stood tall in goal for the Bears. Their good work paid off and Kamberi scored the equaliser in the 76th minute. Halliday hit the bar in the final action of the game as Hibs went down to 10 men in the end.
Here is how Gerrard’s men fared.
Allan McGregor 6.5
A spectator in the first half. Made a top save to keep his side ahead but couldn’t prevent the equaliser.
Joe Worrall 7
His reading of the situation was on point and the Englishman often dealt with long balls well. Made some smart tackles.
Connor Goldson 6
Misjudged few long balls on occasions and that allowed the Hibs to have some decent goal scoring chances. Needs to improve with his decision making.
Andy Halliday 5.5
Skyed a good opportunity in the first half. His crossing was poor for most parts. Could have been a hero late on in the game but only managed to hit the bar from the free kick.
Jame Tavernier 5.5
Provided an attacking outlet from the right like always. However, was found wanting defensively for the goal which the Hibs scored.
Ryan Jack 6
Not one of his best games as he was run over in the second half.
Glen Kamara 6.5
Has become a nailed on starter in midfield and once again showed his class by linking up play well.
Scott Arfield 6
Unlucky to not score in the first half. A bit of composure in the final third from him could have ensured another goal for Rangers.
Ryan Kent 7
Drove the ball forward with intensity and set up some good chances for his team-mates. Took one smart attempt in the first half but was denied brilliantly by the opposition goalkeeper.
Daniel Candeias 7.5
His finish for the goal was fantastic as it was with his non-favoured left foot. Worked hard like always.
Alfredo Morelos 5
Should have buried his chance in the first half. Guilty of missing a few half chances later on and a poor game for the Colombian according to his standards.
Substitute
Jermain Defoe N/A
Wasn’t involved much after coming on.
