According to Talksport, Chelsea midfield ace N’Golo Kante has said that he is wholly focused on his career at Stamford Bridge. In the process, he has rubbished the rumours linking him with a move to Real Madrid, which is a big boost for the Blues.
Kante has recently been linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu after he found it difficult to play in his new position under current manager Maurizio Sarri. The Italian gaffer made a few controversial decisions since taking charge at the Bridge, one of them being the deployment of the World Cup winning midfielder in a more advanced position than he usually plays in. The former Napoli manager has brought in Jorginho to play as the defensive midfielder, which has backfired and both the player and the manager has had to face criticism.
However, it seems that Kante is gradually adapting to his new role in the side and is focussing on changing his style of play under the new manager. This shows how important a player he is for the Blues and that his departure from the side could spell danger for them in the future.
The success of Sarri’s 4-3-3 formation depends a lot on the midfielders as they link up with the defence and attack to help the team play as a cohesive unit. However, the inability of Mateo Kovacic, Ross Barkley and Jorginho to perform consistently has affected the free-flowing football that was expected from the Blues’ midfield. Kante has been the only player to perform on a regular basis, even in his new role, which makes his presence at the heart of the Chelsea midfield indispensable for their success.
Now that the Frenchman has confirmed that he is committed to his task at the west London club, it should come as a big boost for them. Kante’s influence on the success of his side can’t be undermined in any way, and Sarri would be happy to see his midfield ace stay back at the club.
Besides, with UEFA almost certain to uphold their transfer ban on Chelsea for the next summer transfer window, it would be impossible for the Blues to find a viable option to replace the 27-year-old Frenchman if he leaves for the Bernabeu. However, his recent comments should come as a huge sigh of relief for the Chelsea Board, with one worry less to ponder upon, as far as the transfer related issues are concerned.
