A change in manager at Celtic hasn’t stopped their ascendency as Neil Lennon negated two tough away fixtures to continue their charge for the ‘treble treble’. However, Rangers cannot afford to look much at what their rivals are doing, and they need to get their bearings right as they travel to Easter Road to take on Hibernian FC in a Premiership clash.
Rangers are facing an eight-point deficit at the moment and the title is very much Celtic’s to lose. However, the Bears should look to run them close and not hand over the title on a plate. Rangers and Hibernian have met twice this season already and both games ended in a draw. So one thing is for sure that the Hibs won’t hand out three points to the Gers on a plate.
Team News
Ryan Jack suffered a foot injury against Aberdeen and is a doubt for this clash. Jamie Murphy and Graham Dorrans are long term absentees, and Gerrard doesn’t have too many injuries issues apart from that.
Rangers Predicted Lineup Vs Hibernian FC
Formation (4-1-4-1)
Defence
Allan McGregor is the undisputed no. 1 in goal for the Bears. The centre back position is likely to be occupied by the likes of Joe Worrall and Connor Goldson. Worrall has been inconsistent, but when he turns up, he puts in influential performances at the back. The defender did an excellent job in the Scottish Cup tie against Aberdeen and Gerrard would hope that the ‘right Worrall’ turns up for this clash as well.
Andy Halliday should be given the go ahead of Barisic in the left back role. James Tavernier is expected to start as a right back once again.
Midfield
Ross McCrorie has been unlucky to miss out in the past few games, and he should find himself in the starting eleven in place of Jack who is a major doubt. Further up front, Glen Kamara and Scott Arfield are going to partner up in central areas.
Ryan Kent has the magic in him to change the game, and he should once again start from the left flank. Daniel Candeias’ dogged determination and his ability to provide an attacking outlet from the right makes him a nailed on starter.
Attack
Alfredo Morelos is expected to lead the line for Gerrard once again. That would mean January signing Jermain Defoe is going to be on the bench. However, if things are level or if Rangers are trailing, we can expect to see both of them on the pitch.
