According to a recent report by Le10 Sport, Liverpool are continuing to monitor the development of Flamengo midfielder Reinier. The Sun reported back in April last year that the Reds were close to recruiting the Brazilian teenager, but they failed to land him back then.
However, Le10 Sport are now claiming that the move could be back on as the Merseyside club are still keeping tabs on the talented teenager, but they will face stiff competition from Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in pursuit of the skilful youngster.
Reinier is widely regarded as one of the most promising young talents coming out of South American football so it could prove to be a clever coup for the Reds if they can pull off the transfer to bring him to Anfield next summer. The 17-year-old has the potential to become a world-class midfielder which Liverpool could benefit from if they can sign him at the end of this campaign.
The fact that Klopp’s current squad consists of quite a few Brazilian players could help the club convince the teenager to move to the red half of Merseyside. The likes of Roberto Firmino, Fabinho and Alisson Becker have all been quite impressive so far during their time at Anfield. The recent success of Phillipe Coutinho and Lucas Leiva proves that there can be more players from the South American nation who can come in and be a huge success at Liverpool.
The Flamengo Under-20 star primarily operates in the number 10 position as he likes to link up play between the midfield and the attack in the opposition half. He can make well-timed runs behind the opposition defence and is also a threat from long-range.
However, Reinier has a lot to learn before he can cut the mustard at the senior level. At 17, the Brazilian prospect is still quite raw and needs to hone his skills before he can make it big in the world of football.
Liverpool will do well to prize him away from Flamengo but there might some complications regarding a work permit, as in most cases involving the transfers from clubs in South America. Reinier is still worth the effort as he can be a future star at Anfield.
