According to the Spanish programme El Chiringuito TV (via talkSPORT), Real Madrid are hoping to secure the services of Sadio Mane from Liverpool next summer. The same source has claimed that Zinedine Zidane, who was named as the new manager of the Galacticos earlier this week, is eager to add the Senegalese international to his attack.
This recent development will worry Liverpool fans as the Reds striker has been in a rich vein of form of late and his incredible goal-scoring run has kept his team’s Premier League and UEFA Champions League hopes alive. Mane has found the back of the net 19 times while creating three assists in 37 matches for the Merseyside outfit this term across multiple competitions.
The 26-year-old has slowly managed to establish himself as one of the most prolific goal-getters in the English top-flight. He is currently well in contention to compete for this Premier League campaign’s golden boot as he is trailing the division’s top scorer, Sergio Aguero by just two goals.
The Liverpool prospect has proven his worth at the highest level since arriving in England in the summer of 2014. He has become an integral member of Jurgen Klopp’s squad at Anfield so it is just unthinkable for the Kopites around the world even to contemplate the fact that Mane would leave the Merseyside club to play for Los Blancos.
Mane boasts blistering pace and has an incredible turn of speed. Moreover, what makes him so unique is the fact that he is quite difficult to read in 1v1 situations, so the opposition defenders often tend to back off in fear of fouling him or even worse, losing track of him.
Klopp knows that the Senegalese winger is a special talent even though he has a habit of squandering opportunities in front of goal much like his partner in attack, Mohamed Salah. If he can improve his productivity in the final third, then Mane has the potential to become one of the best players of his generation.
Hence, Liverpool cannot allow him to leave even if an elite club like Real Madrid are looking to land him in the summer. The Reds are better of retaining his services for the long-run which is why they recently tied their prized asset up on a long-term contract at Anfield.
