Chelsea will travel to the blue half of Merseyside to take on Everton at Goodison Park this Sunday on the back of a comfortable 5-0 win over Dynamo Kiev in midweek. Maurizio Sarri’s men are still in contention to secure a top 4 place at the end of this campaign. However, they need to go on a good winning run or else risk missing out on UEFA Champions League football for next season.
Sarri will once again opt for a 4-3-3 formation and might make a whole host of chances to his first-team for this league encounter at Merseyside.
4-3-3 Chelsea Predicted Lineup To Face Everton
Defence
Kepa Arrizabalaga will start in goal for the West London outfit after he managed to keep a clean sheet against Dynamo Kiev in midweek. The Spanish shot-stopper will be protected by the centre-back duo of David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger as they resume their duties at the middle of the Chelsea backline. Cesar Azpilicueta was rested on Thursday night, so he should get the nod to start at right-back. Marcos Alonso put in a much-improved performance in midweek so he might keep his place on the other side as the left-back.
Emerson Palmieri could be demoted to Sarri’s bench for this weekend’s encounter at Goodison Park.
The Pensioners have improved a lot defensively over the past few weeks so they will be confident about their chances of keeping a clean sheet at Merseyside this weekend.
Midfield
The midfield three of Ross Barkley, Jorginho and N’Golo Kante should come back and resume their first-team duties in Sarri’s starting XI as they look to establish Chelsea’s dominance at the middle of the park.
Jorginho is expected to be marked closely during the match, so he would need to find a way to make an impact from midfield. Mateo Kovacic will likely start on the Pensioners bench and might play a part in this match if required.
Attack
Both Eden Hazard and Willian will provide the width down the flanks while Gonzalo Higuain leads the line for Chelsea up front. Hazard scored the all-important equaliser against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend so he will fancy his chances of finding the back of the net against the Toffees on Sunday.
Pedro will have to settle for a spot on Sarri’s bench but might get an opportunity to feature in this game if needed.
