Liverpool will travel to the Allianz Arena to take on Bayern Munich in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash. The Reds come into this contest on the back of a comfortable 4-2 victory over Burnley on Saturday. However, they were not as convincing against Munich in the first leg at Anfield last month when the Bavarian giants managed to hold them to a scoreless draw.
That result has set-up this European encounter well as the tie is now fabulously poised with both teams confident about their chances of qualification. The Merseyside outfit could line up in a 4-3-3 formation with their captain, Jordan Henderson set to return to Jurgen Klopp’s midfield in midweek.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Bayern Munich
Defence
Alisson Becker will resume his goalkeeping duties for the Reds after shipping in two goals against Burnley last weekend. The Brazilian keeper will be protected by the centre-half duo of Joel Matip and Virgil Van Dijk. The defensive pair have struck up a formidable partnership at the heart of the Liverpool backline and will hope that they can keep things stable at the back for the away team.
Trent Alexander-Arnold picked up a knock against the Clarets which makes him a slight doubt for this European encounter. The English youngster was subbed off in the second half as a precautionary measure so Klopp would now keep his fingers crossed that the right-back can recover in time to start on Wednesday night. Andrew Robertson is a nailed-on starter at left-back for the Reds as he looks to link up play with Mane and Firmino down the left flank.
A clean sheet in midweek could go a long way in ensuring that Liverpool qualifies into the quarter-finals of the competition, but it won’t be easy for Klopp’s defenders as they will be up against an inform Robert Lewandowski, who will once again spearhead the Bayern attack.
Midfield
Klopp might opt for a midfield three of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Adam Lallana for this clash at the Allianz Arena. All three of them were quite productive on the field versus Burnley at the weekend. They will look to dictate play in midfield and establish the away side’s dominance at the middle of the park.
Attack
The Liverpool front three comprised of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane pick themselves. The fabulous trio will be expected to get the goals which will make the difference on the night.
