Rangers and Aberdeen have played some feisty encounters this season and they have already squared up four times against each other. Their encounters have seen 5 red cards in those four games and one can expect another lively game at the Pittodrie as Rangers prepare to take them on in the Scottish Cup Quarterfinals.
Steven Gerrard would realise that this is his best opportunity to win a silverware this season and that in turn should stop Celtic from winning their third treble in a row. The Bears have produced some delightful performances of late as they have scored a whopping 14 goals in the last three games without conceding any. However, the Dons aren’t going to be any walkover and we can expect a closely fought tie between these two rivals.
Team News
Apart from the long term injuries of Jamie Murphy and Graham Dorrans, Steven Gerrard hasn’t got any injury issues. Eros Grezda is back in training and he could see himself get into the matchday squad.
Rangers Predicted Lineup Vs Aberdeen
Formation (4-1-4-1)
Defence
Allan McGregor has been a spectator in goal in the past few games but he is likely to be tested against a good Aberdeen team. It is clear now that Gerrard is set to prefer the centre back partnership of Joe Worrall and Connor Goldson and so we expect the duo to start again.
Andy Halliday’s commitment and desire make him a better option than Borna Barisic and we would like to see the Scotsman start in the left back role. James Tavernier is a guaranteed starter on the right side of the defence.
Midfield
Ross McCrorie’s tenacity and pressing often make the difference and we would like to see him return to the lineup. Ryan Jack has continued with his consistent performances and he should also start in midfield. Scott Arfield’s experience can come in handy in a game like this and he should occupy the other midfield spot. Glen Kamara has put in some top-notch performances of late but he just misses out for us.
Ryan Kent has blown hot and cold but he still remains a major threat. He should start from the left. Daniel Candeias is a nailed on starter on the right flank.
Attack
Given his ability, Alfredo Morelos is definitely going to lead the line in this game. However, Gerrard might be literally pleading with his striker to stay on the pitch for the full 90 minutes as Morelos has seen three red cards in the four fixtures against Aberdeen this season.
