According to The Sun On Sunday (10/3; page 61), as cited by Sportslens, Everton are eyeing a move for the Bournemouth attacker Ryan Fraser in the next summer transfer window. The player has been in decent form this season and has led Bournemouth’s charge in the attack to get them to a comfortable position in the Premier League table.
The Toffees are having a disappointing season, to say the least, as they find themselves stranded at the 11th position in the league table. Their decent start to the season has faded away with recent dismal performances and their last outing against Newcastle United was a clear indication that they need a significant shake-up ahead of the new season.
The Magpies came back from a two-goal deficit after Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison put Everton ahead in the match. While Ayoze Perez scored two goals for his side, Salomon Rondon scored one to complete the comeback for his team as the Merseyside club left the pitch empty-handed.
This has piled massive pressure on the Everton gaffer Marco Silva, as he looks to help his side end the season on a respectable note in the league table. The Portuguese might look to add some new players to his team after none of his new signings (except Richarlison) was able to have an impact on the proceedings this season.
Fraser, on the other hand, has been one of the best attackers this season for the Cherries and has helped Bournemouth consolidate their position in the top half of the table. The Scottish winger has been a revelation for the South Coast club and has notched up seven goals so far this season. He has also proved himself to be a perfect team player with ten assists so far this season, which is the second most number delivered by any player this season in the Premier League.
Everton’s wingers, Bernardo and Theo Walcott, have been far from decent this season. Their lacklustre performances in almost every match this season, both as a goal scorer as well as an assist-maker, have seen their side suffer. A total of 41 goals in 30 games so far this season is an indication of how poor the performance of the forwards, especially the wingers, has been this season for the Toffees.
The addition of a player like Ryan Fraser will not only give a lot of impetus to Everton going forward, but it would also take a lot of pressure off the shoulders of Richarlison, who has done the bulk of scoring for the Merseyside club this season. Though it would not be easy for the Toffees to get their hands on their desired target, Silva would need to take some good decisions to make the next one a better season for him as well as his side.
