Everton notched up a clinical win against West Ham United in what was somewhat of a surprise result. The Toffees clinched three crucial points from the match at the London Stadium courtesy of goals from Kurt Zouma and Bernard.
Marco Silva’s team started to put pressure on a subdued looking West Ham United side, and the results began to show early in the match. The French defender Zouma, who came into the team at the expense of Yerry Mina, scored from a corner with a thumping header to make it 1-0. Seamus Coleman found Bernard at the end of a brilliant run into the box as the Brazilian scored from close range to make it 2-0. The Hammers never looked like building up a resistance against the Merseyside club, and the scoreline remained the same until the final whistle.
Here is how the Everton players were rated from their win against West Ham United.
Jordan Pickford: 7
A well-deserved clean sheet for the England number one. The inability of the West Ham strikers to keep their shots on target helped his cause to a great extent though.
Seamus Coleman: 8
Brilliant composure from the right back as he kept pressing for the goal from the word go. DIshed out a number of brilliant deliveries from the right-hand side at the end of his darting runs, demonstrating why he is still so highly rated in the Everton ranks. He looked lively while backtracking as well.
Kurt Zouma: 8
Kept playing on the shoulders of the opposition players, on both ends of the pitch. Apart from being a rock in the defence for the Toffees, he dealt a hammer blow to the hopes of the West Ham fans with an early goal in the match to put his side ahead.
Michael Keane: 7
Showed why he is still one of the finest English defenders in the Premier League with a steady performance to keep the goal safe. Made a number of proper clearances and interceptions throughout the match.
Lucas Digne: 7
His runs down the left wing were as intimidating as that of the ones on the right-hand side by his Irish counterpart. Was excellent while backtracking against the likes of Snodgrass and Arnautovic as well.
Andre Gomes: 7
Was a significant influence in the midfield as he looked to win possession in the midfield. Passed the ball well into the opposition half as well.
Idrissa Gueye: 8
Superb composure against the likes of Pedro Obiang and Declan Rice. Tackled and intercepted well to break down the attack in the middle of the pitch and also initiated counter-actions.
Gylfi Sigurdsson: 6
Looked a little subdued in the second half after having a decent first half. Kept getting into the danger area with his darting runs from time to time.
Bernard: 8
His stealthy runs down the left-hand side and into the box were too good to pick up for Diop and Ogbonna. The goal he scored was at the end of one such run, which was also his first goal in the Premier League.
Richarlison: 6
Tried to get the shot off after getting into good positions but was dispossessed by the Hammers defence. Picked up a yellow card in the first half.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin: 6
Tried to put pressure on the opposition with his physical attributes. However, his shot-making was almost a rarity on the night.
