According to a recent report by Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato), Chelsea are once again being linked with a move for Fiorentina winger Federico Chiesa. The same source has claimed that the Serie A outfit are demanding a fee in the region of €80m for their prized asset. The Pensioners are set to face stiff competition from the likes of Juventus, Inter Milan and Napoli in pursuit of the Italian talent.
Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato) has also claimed that Carlo Ancelotti’s side will have the first option to buy Chiesa if Viola decided to sell him in the summer. It is no surprise to see so many different clubs chasing after his signature as the 21-year-old has been in the form of his life at Florence this season. The Genova born talent has already put in some dazzling displays for Stefano Pioli’s side during this campaign.
Chiesa has made 29 appearances for Fiorentina this term, finding the back of the net on 11 occasions while also providing eight assists across all competitions. He came through the youth ranks of the Florence outfit before establishing himself as a regular first-team starter back in 2016. The Italian starlet is one of the brightest young players that the Serie A has to offer so it would be interesting to see whether Chelsea ends up making a move for him in the summer.
Chiesa is blessed with blistering pace and acceleration which enables him to dribble with the ball at top speed which causes a lot of problems for the opposition defenders. He can also strike the ball well and tends to score important goals for his team.
There is no doubt that he would be a fantastic addition to Maurizio Sarri’s side ahead of the new campaign. The Italian prospect will undoubtedly bolster Sarri’s attacking options at Stamford Bridge. At 21, he has massive potential to be a world-class forward in the coming years. However, there is some concern regarding the youngster’s ability to adapt his game to the physicality and high intensity of Premier League football.
Chelsea will do well to prize him away from Florence, but there is a possibility that they might be at the receiving end of a FIFA ban of two transfer windows despite the club launching an appeal regarding the decision. So it would mean that the Pensioners won’t be able to sign any new players until the summer of 2020 unless they are successful with their appeal.
