According to a recent report by Sky Sports News, Bundesliga clubs Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are reportedly looking to secure the services of Wilfried Zaha and Aaron Wan-Bissaka ahead of the summer transfer window. Dortmund already enquired about Zaha during the January transfer window and will now look to seal a move for him in the summer. Bayern, on the other hand, are among a few clubs looking to recruit Wan-Bissaka, who has arguably been Palace’s best player in this campaign.
The Eagles have enjoyed a strong season so far under Roy Hodgson’s stewardship and are currently occupying the 13th spot of the Premier League table, a healthy eight points clear of the relegation zone. As long as they don’t go through a significant free-fall in the remaining nine games of this season, it is safe to assume that the Selhurst-outfit are safe from being demoted from the English top-flight.
Most of their success this season has been down to the form of Zaha and Wan-Bissaka, so it is no surprise to hear about the top German clubs looking to land them in the summer. Zaha has scored eight goals and grabbed five assists in 27 appearances for Palace this season.
Wan-Bissaka has featured in 29 matches for the Eagles this term, making four tackles and 2.3 interceptions per game. He has been a stellar defender in the Palace half and can also dribble with the ball down the wide areas.
The London outfit cannot afford to let both of them leave in the summer. It will be a double blow for them if they do allow them to depart the club in search of more challenging adventures.
Allowing one of them to move on might be an option they can explore as they can use the money from the potential sale to bring in a suitable replacement. However, to lose both of them will leave their squad low in morale which won’t bode well going into the new campaign.
Thus, Roy Hodgson should do all that he can to retain their services for the long-run. However, for the players, it might be wise to move on to a foreign club so that they can compete for some silverware in the coming years.
