The fight for the automatic promotion spots has come down between three teams as Norwich City lead the table followed by Leeds United who are two points behind and Sheffield United at third who are a further two points behind the Whites. It is becoming more or less certain now that two would go through from this lot and it will be heartbreaking for the team finishing third as they would have to go through the vigours of the playoffs.
Therefore this weekend’s clash between Leeds United and Sheffield United is going to be a big game for both the sides. The Whites got the better of their opponents at Bramall lane as they secured a narrow 1-0 victory. Three points again would weaken the Blades’ chance of finishing second and both the teams are going to go into this tie thinking of it as a cup final. The West Yorkshire outfit are unbeaten in their last three games and they should be confident of pulling off a positive result at Elland Road.
Team News
Adam Forshaw has been missing for quite some time, and he is unlikely to feature in the matchday squad. Kemar Roofe is also expected to miss out. Jack Clarke has started training, but he could be still some time away from getting in the starting lineup.
Leeds United Predicted Lineup Vs Sheffield United
Formation (4-1-4-1)
Defence
Kiko Casilla has emerged as a crucial player for the Whites in goal, and he is expected to start in between the sticks once again. Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper have cut down on their mistakes and are looking good together in defence. So we don’t see Bielsa changing too much for this game as well.
Luke Ayling has rediscovered himself after going through a lean patch. He should start on the right side of the defence. Ezgjan Alioski is also likely to continue as the left back.
Midfield
When Kalvin Phillips has a good game, the Whites generally play well, and that shows his importance in the starting eleven. The English midfielder is set to start in the deepest role in midfield. Mateusz Klich has worked extremely hard in midfield and his goal in the midweek clash should boost his confidence further. He is expected to start in the middle of the park. Tyler Roberts should continue in his new found role of an attacking midfielder.
Pablo Hernandez’s form has been impressive, and he should start on the right. Jack Harrison has improved quite a bit, and he should keep his place on the left as Clarke is likely to be unavailable.
Attack
Patrick Bamford has stepped up in the last few games. The forward is expected to lead the line once again.
