Arsenal will entertain Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday hoping to bounce back from their midweek defeat away at Rennes. The Gunners are still in with a great chance of finishing in the top 4, but to do that, they have to pick up maximum points from this contest.
However, it won’t be an easy task to get a favourable result against the Red Devils following their miraculous 3-1 triumph over Paris Saint-Germain in midweek. Unai Emery could opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and might play Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on the left flank for this league encounter.
4-2-3-1 Arsenal Predicted Lineup To Face Manchester United
Defence
Bernd Leno will begin the match in between the sticks for the home side despite failing to keep a clean sheet against Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks. The centre-half duo of Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Laurent Koscielny are expected to operate at the heart of the Arsenal defence for this upcoming league clash at the Emirates Stadium.
Shkodran Mustafi could keep his place as a makeshift right-back. Sead Kolasinac has been one of Emery’s most productive players going forward so he should continue to feature on the left side of the Gunners defence.
Man United could line up with both Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford up top. Hence, it won’t be easy for the Arsenal defenders to keep things tight at the back unless they can somehow manage to restrict the Red Devils striking duo from scoring this weekend.
Midfield
Lucas Torreira is suspended for this game after picking up a red card against Spurs earlier this month. Hence, Emery might be forced to go with Matteo Guendouzi and Granit Xhaka in midfield as the pair look to work hard and create some opportunities to score in the opposition half.
The talented trio of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Aaron Ramsey and Henrikh Mkhitaryan could be deployed ahead of them as part of Emery’s attack on Sunday evening.
All three of them has been amongst the goal-scorers over the past month so they will fancy their chances of causing a few problems for the Man United defenders this weekend. Mesut Ozil is likely to stay on the bench for this high profile clash.
Attack
Alexandre Lacazette will probably lead the line for the North London outfit up top. The Frenchman is a lethal finisher inside the opposition box and would hope that he can play a significant part in determining the victor of this upcoming clash.
