According to a recent report by Calciomercato, Arsenal are firmly interested in securing the services of Cengiz Under from AS Roma. The same source has also revealed that the Gunners have scouted him on numerous occasions in the recent past but have failed to recruit him during the January transfer window. Calciomercato are now claiming that the Serie A outfit could be willing to part ways with their prized asset if an offer upwards of €30m comes in for the player.
Unai Emery is yet to make a concrete offer for the Turkish sensation, but he might choose to move in for him in the summer. Under has been in a rich vein of form for Roma this season even though he has been plagued with injuries recently. The 21-year-old has featured in 25 matches for the Italian outfit this term, scoring six goals while creating nine assists across all competitions.
Under’s current contract with Roma runs out in the summer of 2022, so the Italian team will be under no obligation to sell him this summer. So it will be up to Arsenal to convince Roma by putting in a lucrative offer for the winger.
The Balikesir born talent has secured 17 international caps for the Turkish national team and has four international goals to his name so far. He is expected to play an integral part for his country in the coming years as the European nation looks to be more successful in some of the major international competitions.
The Roma starlet is blessed with electric pace and is a penetrative dribbler with the ball at his feet. He can score himself or set up goals for others around him. His unselfish nature makes him an irreplaceable member of Eusebio Di Francesco’s team. However, the Turkish prospect needs to be more clinical in front of goal if he wants to prove his worth in the Premier League.
Under is also quite versatile and can operate in any position across the frontline. Moreover, the 21-year-old is a natural winger who could stretch the pitch for Arsenal down the wide areas which might help the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette to wreak havoc in the final third.
If Emery can successfully recruit Under ahead of the new campaign, the winger could give the Gunners a considerable boost in quality which will help them challenge for top honours next season.
