According to a recent report by Goal.com, Arsenal are ready to table a £4m offer for Brazilian youngster Gabriel Martinelli. However, the same source has also revealed that the Gunners will face stiff competition from a whole host of clubs which include Corinthians, Cruzeiro, Flamengo, Palmeiras and Santos in pursuit of the Ituano midfielder.
Despite competition from so many different clubs, Unai Emery will be optimistic about his chances of landing the teenage prospect as Ituano is valuing him in the region of €10m (Goal.com). That figure can be considered as a fee which is beyond the financial reach of the Brazilian clubs. Hence it should give Arsenal an advantage in the race to secure his services.
The same report has also claimed that the Brazilian wonderkid has also been tracked by other English clubs such as Watford, Leeds United and Middlesbrough but the Gunners chiefs are the only ones who are ready to make a concrete offer for the player.
The Rise Of Gabriel Martinelli
The 17-year-old is widely regarded as one of the most promising young talents coming out of Brazilian football. The youngster started his youth career at Corinthians before spending the last four years playing in Ituano’s academy. He has also had previous trials with Barcelona and Manchester United. However, he failed to earn a permanent move to those elite clubs.
Martelli has incredible potential and has already shown glimpses of his brilliance this season. He has scored three goals in 9 league matches for Ituano this term which has helped the club climb to the second spot of Group D in the Paulista Championship.
What Will The Brazilian Teenager Bring To The Emirates Stadium?
Martelli operates as a striker but can also play on the flanks if required. He is an exceptional finisher inside the opposition box, and at such a young age, he has shown a lot of maturity during his recent outings in the Campeonato Paulista.
However, at 17, the Brazilian is still quite raw and needs to be nurtured with care if he is to fulfil his real potential in the coming years.
Will He Be A Good Fit At Arsenal?
If Arsenal can manage to bring him to the Emirates Stadium, it will be a smart move as the striker will be a signing for the future. He is destined to have a big future in world football, and the Gunners might be the ideal club for him to fulfil his ambitions. The North London giants are known to give their youth players a chance so if Martelli can grasp his opportunities during his stay in England; then he should have no problems when trying to break into the Arsenal first team within the next couple of years.
