According to a recent report by Tuttomercatoweb, AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessié is unhappy after being handed a fine by the club following his bust-up with Lucas Biglia during last weekend’s 3-2 defeat in the Milan derby against Inter. The same source has also claimed that this recent disagreement between the player and the Italian club has piqued Arsenal’s interest over a potential deal for the Ivory Coast international in the summer.
If reports of Kessie being unhappy at the San Siro are true, then this could be an ideal opportunity for the Gunners to lure the talented Serie A midfielder to the Emirates Stadium at the end of this campaign.
Kessie has put in some commanding displays in the AC Milan midfield after having established himself in Gennaro Gattuso’s senior squad. Since completing his two-year loan move to the Milan outfit from Atalanta in the summer of 2017, the Ivory Coast midfielder has featured in 87 matches for the Italian giants, scoring nine goals while providing eight assists across all competitions.
Gattuso will now be obligated to sign him permanently in the summer when his loan contract comes to an end. However, the Milan boss could also have the opportunity to sell him almost immediately if the relationship with the player doesn’t improve in the coming months.
Kessie is a midfield powerhouse and can make some driving runs with the ball. He is not afraid to work his socks off for his team and has contributed with some crucial goals and assists in the opposition half. The 22-year-old is a complete midfielder and has a very promising future ahead in European football. He could turn out to be a shrewd acquisition for Emery if the Gunners can lure him to North London soon.
Arsenal have currently got a plethora of options in midfield with the likes of Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira, Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny, Aaron Ramsey and Joe Willock vying for a starting berth at the Emirates Stadium. However, Emery will have to let Ramsey leave at the end of this campaign when he joins Juventus on a free transfer so Kessie could be an ideal replacement for the departing Welshman.
Hence, it makes a lot of sense for the Gunners to try and orchestrate a move for the Ivorian midfield talent in the summer.
