Everton have had an underwhelming campaign under Marco Silva’s tutelage this season, but that didn’t stop them from securing a hard-earned point against their local rivals Liverpool yesterday. The Toffees have shown signs of promise during this campaign, but they have often lacked consistency with their performances on the pitch.
Silva initially struggled to figure out his strongest starting XI as none of his forwards were able to fire on all cylinders up top. Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have both got their fair share of opportunities to lead the line for the Merseyside outfit. Hence, they could do with a new forward in the summer along with a defender as well who could replace Kurt Zouma once his loan deal expires at the end of this campaign.
The Toffees have also lacked creativity from midfield which makes it essential for them to recruit well during this summer transfer period. Let’s take a look at three players Everton should look to sign in the summer.
Sebastian Haller
The Bundesliga frontman has enjoyed a fabulous campaign with Eintracht Frankfurt after scoring a bunch of goals for them which has helped the club climb to the 5th place of the league table, just three points off fourth-placed Borussia Monchengladbach. Haller has managed to bang in 17 goals while creating 12 assists in 33 matches for Frankfurt this term across multiple competitions.
He could prove to be a brilliant addition to the Toffees attack and can also be considered as a significant upgrade over Cenk Tosun and Calvert-Lewin.
James Tarkowski
The English defensive ace has been a commanding presence at the back for Burnley this season. Tarkowski can also be physically dominant at both ends of the pitch. The 26-year-old has proven his worth in the English top-flight over the past couple of seasons. He will be a perfect partner for Michael Keane and would also soften the blow of losing Kurt Zouma if Chelsea decides to recall him next summer.
Wilfried Zaha
The Crystal Palace forward would be an ideal option to bolster Silva’s frontline up top at Goodison Park. Both Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin have struggled to score goals this term.
Hence, the Everton boss could use a player like Zaha who can run the channels and occasionally feature as a forward as well.
