West Ham United will entertain Liverpool at the London Stadium on Monday night looking to halt the Merseyside outfit’s title charge. The Reds are currently leading the Premier League with a healthy gap at the top of the league standings. However, Liverpool’s draw against Leicester City on Thursday night has given the Hammers some hope of getting a result out of this encounter.
Jurgen Klopp will probably stick with his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation and so will Manuel Pellegrini as he prepares his side for a tough night out against the league leaders.
Team News
West Ham United
Marko Arnautovic, Aaron Cresswell, Lukasz Fabianski and Lucas Perez are all significant doubts to start in this contest as they continue to recover from their respective injuries. Samir Nasri can be ruled out of this encounter due to a calf injury, and either Javier Hernandez or Andy Carroll will lead the line for the Hammers up top.
Liverpool
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remain long-term casualties for Jurgen Klopp’s team. However, the Reds would be boosted by the return of James Milner after he served out a one-match suspension in midweek.
The Liverpool boss might also hand Adam Lallana his first Premier League start of the season following his impressive cameo against Leicester City at Anfield.
Predicted Lineups
West Ham United
Lukasz Fabianski; Pablo Zabaleta, Issa Diop, Angelo Ogbonna, Aaron Cresswell; Mark Noble, Declan Rice, Michail Antonio, Robert Snodgrass, Felipe Anderson; Javier Hernandez
Liverpool
Alisson Becker; James Milner, Dejan Lovren, Virgil Van Dijk, Andrew Robertson; Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, Adam Lallana, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah
Key Men
West Ham United
Both Diop and Ogbonna will need to have a good game if the Hammers are to keep it tight at the back on Monday night. Felipe Anderson and Robert Snodgrass have recently shared the goal-scoring workload between each other so one of them would need to find the back of the net if West Ham are to come away with a result from this encounter.
Liverpool
Salah had an off day versus the Foxes on Thursday night, so he would be desperate to return to goal-scoring ways at the London Stadium. Both Lovren and Milner will also need to perform well as they resume their duties as part of Klopp’s starting XI on Monday.
Odds
West Ham United win – 15/2
Draw – 17/4
Liverpool win – 2/5
