According to a recent report by the Daily Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to beat their rivals, Arsenal in the race to secure the services of Suso from AC Milan. The same source has also revealed that the former Liverpool midfielder has three years remaining on his current contract at the San Siro which also contains a release clause reported to be in the region of £35m.
The Spanish talent has managed to establish himself as one of the best playmakers in the Serie A since making a switch to Milan from Liverpool in the summer of 2015. He has put in a series of impressive displays in midfield for Gennaro Gattuso’s side during this campaign.
Suso has featured in 26 matches for AC Milan this term, scoring six goals while grabbing eight assists across all competitions. His incredible contributions have helped AC Milan climb to the 4th spot of the Serie A table, so they are now well in contention to secure a UEFA Champions League berth at the end of this season. The Cadiz youth product has also acquired four international caps for the Spanish national side so far in his career.
Suso is quick and agile which helps him dribble with the ball out of tight spaces. He has tremendous ball control and has an eye for a decisive pass in the final third. Moreover, the Spaniard has also managed to add goals to his game which is why he has become such a key member of Gattuso’s squad.
The 25-year-old’s time at Anfield was full of promise but with no glory at the end of it. Thus, it feels like Suso might have some unfinished business and should consider coming back to the Premier League as he still has a lot to prove in English football. Tottenham can potentially be an ideal fit for him as he would be able to link up with some of the best attacking talents in Europe while also get the opportunity to play under a world-class manager like Mauricio Pochettino.
The addition of Suso would undoubtedly bolster Pochettino’s attacking options at the North London club. The Spanish sensation would also increase competition for places within the Spurs midfield and add some much-needed depth to their squad. Hence, Daniel Levy and co. should go all out in pursuit of Suso’s signature as he will be an excellent fit for the North London giants.
