According to a recent report by the Guardian, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Harry Kane is back in training after his recent spell out with a knee injury. In the pre-match press conference ahead of Spurs’ match against Burnley, the Argentine manager shed some light on Kane’s road to recovery and said, “Everyone knows that Harry is an animal – he wants to be ready as soon as possible,”
“He did everything to try to recover and of course the injury that he suffered is tough to recover from. We’re so happy that in the last 10 days he was fantastic, back in training again, and he can be available again. It’s going to be a massive impact for everyone [when he returns].
“I’m so happy to have all the players but we can’t hide that he’s one of the best strikers in the world.”
Pochettino went on to add, “I don’t care if he feels ready or wants to play or not,”
“I’ll decide with my coaching staff, with the doctor and the medical staff and sports science staff. Always with every player that came from an injury or illness, it’s about the structure, when it’s possible to play or not. Of course if you ask him 10 days ago he was ready to play! But in the end the last word is always myself. I take the risk, the decision and everything that is going on in the team.”
This recent development will be a welcome bit of news for anyone associated with the North London club as Harry Kane could be the key member to keep their slim hopes of winning the Premier League title alive this season. The English forward has been a big miss for Spurs over the past few weeks but to the surprise of many people, Tottenham’s league results have not suffered too much in Kane’s absence as the likes of Heung-min Son and Fernando Llorente have stepped up to score the goals up top.
Kane is an accomplished finisher who will add a lot of goals to Pochettino’s first-team when he makes his full return from injury in the coming days. Only time will tell whether Pochettino will decide to involve him against Burnley this weekend.
The English striker has shown in the past that he can find the back of the net when his team needs him the most to deliver for them in the attacking end of the pitch. Kane is also trailing Mohamed Salah and Sergio Aguero by just three goals in the race to win the Premier League golden boot so his return to training could now make him the dark horse to win that top-scorer award at the end of this campaign.
The 25-year-old forward has featured in 31 matches for Spurs this term, scoring 20 goals while creating six assists across all competitions. His numbers speak for itself so his availability this weekend will be a massive boost for Tottenham heading into the final few months of this Premier League campaign.
