Tottenham Hotspur will entertain Burnley at Wembley Stadium on Saturday afternoon looking to continue their good form in the Premier League. Spurs have managed to grind out results in recent weeks which has kept them in the Premier League title race. They will now have an excellent opportunity to close the gap to Liverpool and Manchester City at the top of the league standings.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men are currently sitting in the 3rd position, just five points off the top spot. A win against the Clarets could put all the pressure on their rivals. However, it won’t be easy to see off Burnley’s challenge this weekend as they are fighting for their top-flight lives and will be desperate to get a result against the North London outfit.
Pochettino might opt to play a 4-4-2 (diamond) formation and could start with Heung-min Son and Fernando Llorente up front.
4-4-2 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup To Face Burnley
Defence
Hugo Lloris will start in goal for Spurs after he managed to keep a clean sheet against Borussia Dortmund in midweek. The French keeper will be protected by the dependable duo of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen as they line up in central defence. Kieran Trippier will operate on the right side of the Tottenham backline looking to cause a few problems for the Clarets defence going forward. Danny Rose might get the nod to start at left-back as he aims to use his pace down the left flank.
Spurs have been quite solid defensively over the past few weeks so we can expect another strong showing from Pochettino’s men on Saturday afternoon.
Midfield
Harry Winks will take up the role of a holding midfielder while Moussa Sissoko and Christian Eriksen play just ahead of him looking to link up the Spurs defence with their attack. Erik Lamela could get a rare start under Pochettino in the number 10 position as he looks to act as a facilitator and create some opportunities for the Tottenham forwards up top.
Attack
Tottenham could once again line up with the front two of Heung-min Son and Fernando Llorente. Both forwards have scored a bunch of goals for Spurs in recent weeks so they will be confident about getting their names on the scoresheet against Sean Dyche’s men this weekend.
