Leeds United have dropped quite a few points in the past couple of months, but their rivals haven’t been able to take advantage as the Whites still occupy the second spot on the league table. They are set to host Swansea City at Elland Road next, and the game is going to carry a lot of significance, especially after what happened between the two teams earlier in the transfer window.
Leeds United have blamed (The Sun) Swansea City for Daniel James’ transfer falling through last month and the winger is likely to start for the Swans in this midweek clash. Meanwhile, Marcelo Bielsa’s side needs to get back to winning ways as they have now lost five of their last eight games in all competitions.
Team News: Leeds United’s injury woes have certainly improved over the past few weeks as both Patrick Bamford and Izzy Brown are fit and available for selection. However, they are going to miss their influential winger Jack Clarke for this game as he was advised to recover this week after collapsing in the dugout against Middlesbrough. Barry Douglas and Adam Forshaw are significant doubts for this game while Stuart Dallas and Gaetano Berardi are still spending time on the treatment table.
Leeds United predicted lineup Vs Swansea City
Formation (4-1-4-1)
Defence
Kiko Casilla has firmly established himself as the no. 1 in goal. Liam Cooper is going to captain the side and is going to start in the heart of the defence. Pontus Jansson will partner him once again in defence. Ezgjan Alioski has coped well defensively while operating as a left back and his work rate has often been quite impressive. With Douglas still being doubtful, the Macedonian could start in that role.
Luke Ayling has been poor with his performances recently so we believe Bielsa should go in with Jamie Shackleton for this match ahead of the experienced defender.
Midfield
Kalvin Phillips salvaged a late point against Middlesbrough, and he might start in the deepest role in midfield. Mateusz Klich is going to play in the central areas. Kemar Roofe has looked good in his new position so he should keep his place as an attacking midfielder. With no options to manoeuvre, Jack Harrison is likely to start from the left. Pablo Hernandez’s form has dipped over the past few games, but he is expected to keep his place down the right flank.
Attack
Patrick Bamford was guilty of missing some good opportunities to score against the Teessiders. He is expected to lead the line, and Bielsa would hope that he can be a bit more clinical in front of goal this time.
