Tottenham Hotspur will face off against Leicester City at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon looking to continue their push up the Premier League table. Spurs are just 5 points behind Manchester City and Liverpool and can be considered as the dark horses to win the league title this season. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have performed well even though they have been hit by injuries to some of their key personnel.
The North London outfit are expected to set-up in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Danny Rose likely to return to Pochettino’s first-team to start at left-back.
4-2-3-1 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup To Face Leicester City
Defence
Hugo Lloris will lineup as the primary goalkeeper in Pochettino’s starting XI after he kept a clean sheet against Newcastle United last weekend. The French keeper has gradually improved his performances over the past few weeks so we can expect another solid showing from him on Sunday.
The defensive duo of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are expected to retain their places at the centre of the Tottenham defence. Davinson Sanchez will be available on the bench and might come on in the second half if required.
Kieran Trippier could feature at right-back ahead of Serge Aurier, who might be rested for Wednesday night’s crucial UEFA Champions League match versus Borussia Dortmund. Danny Rose will resume his full-back duties at the left-back position in the absence of Ben Davies, who will miss out due to injury.
Midfield
Both Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko could continue operating as the holding midfielders as they have formed a formidable partnership at the centre of the park. The trio of Heung-min Son, Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela might be deployed ahead of them as they look to link up with each other and create some good chances while operating in and around the Leicester penalty area.
It’s high time for Lamela to step up and start contributing more in the attacking end of the pitch.
Attack
Fernando Llorente will be unleashed as a centre-forward once again in Harry Kane’s absence with the English striker still out recovering from his serious knee injury. Llorente managed to score a crucial goal versus Watford a few weeks ago which should give him some confidence heading into this clash.
