Leeds United had to dig deep to not succumb to another defeat as they scored late in the stoppage time to salvage one point against Middlesbrough.
It was a similar story for the Whites as they created a decent amount of chances but were unable to provide finishing touches to some of their attacking moves. Lewis Wing opened the scoring for the Teessiders early in the second half. Kalvin Phillips scored a crucial equaliser in a rather lengthy stoppage time.
Here is how the Whites fared.
Kiko Casilla 6
Made a crucial save from George Saville. Apart from that, did a decent job and wasn’t tested too many times. His distribution was on point as well.
Pontus Jansson 6
Lost his man on set pieces on a few occasions but otherwise, looked solid defensively. Came close to scoring as his header hit the post in the second half.
Liam Cooper 5
Made some crucial blocks and interceptions but was sloppy in possession as he gave the ball away cheaply.
Luke Ayling 4
Another poor performance from Ayling so Shackleton should be in the reckoning to start next. Quite sloppy in possession and often put his team under pressure.
Ezgjan Alioski 4.5
Defensively, he did an excellent job but lacked to produce any quality on the ball whether it was from set pieces or while crossing from the flanks.
Kalvin Phillips 6.5
Can be partly blamed for the Middlesbrough goal. Worked hard and battled well but it wasn’t one of his best days on the pitch. However, he scored the all-important equaliser in the end.
Mateusz Klich 5
Maybe wasn’t fit enough to play the full game and was substituted early on. Tried hard to link up play but often lacked the conviction. An average game for the Polish midfielder.
Jack Harrison 4.5
Tried to be too cute on occasions with his flicks and tricks instead of doing the basic things right. Work rate was lacking as he often didn’t track back to help his fullbacks.
Kemar Roofe 6
Played in the attacking midfield role and looked good. Came close to scoring but was denied by Randolph in the second half.
Jack Clarke 5
Took on defenders but wasn’t able to create something significant going forward. An off game for the teenager which is why he got subbed in the second half.
Patrick Bamford 5
Guilty of missing chances in both halves. Made some clever runs and occupied some dangerous areas in the attacking third but the sharpness in his finishing was lacking.
Substitutes
Tyler Roberts 6
Looked lively after coming on and made some important contributions in the attacking third.
Pablo Hernandez 5
Wasn’t able to influence much after coming on.
Jamie Shackleton N/A
Played too little to warrant a rating.
