Rangers finally managed to get the job done without Alfredo Morelos as they wreaked havoc against Hamilton. The away side came out with a 5-0 win, but Celtic didn’t make any mistake from their game as they too romped home against Motherwell to maintain their eight point advantage at the top of the table.
The Bears need to have a near perfect season from here onwards if they want to run Celtic close and they would take on Dundee next in the Premiership. The Dee are currently third from bottom, but they managed to eke out a draw when the two teams met last time in December. Gerrard would hope that his side can show the same cutting edge in this midweek clash as they did at the weekend against Hamilton.
Team News
Jamie Murphy and Graham Dorrans are the long term absentees at the moment. Eros Grezda is back in training, and he could be involved in the matchday squad. Alfredo Morelos has served his suspension for his red card against Aberdeen.
Rangers Predicted Lineup Vs Dundee
Formation (4-1-4-1)
Defence
Allan McGregor is set to continue in goal for the Gers. He should be shielded by the centre back pair of Joe Worrall and Connor Goldson. The Gers have kept four clean sheets in a row now and that should please the manager and the defenders.
Andy Halliday has done well as a left back, and we expect him to start ahead of Borna Barisic again. James Tavernier should occupy his usual right back spot.
Midfield
Ross McCrorie could find himself in the team after he was rested in the weekend’s game. Ryan Jack has been one of the best players for the Gers this season and we expect him to start in a slightly more advanced role in midfield. Scott Arfield should partner him there.
Ryan Kent’s performance level has gone down again but he remains a significant threat down the left given his pace and trickery. He should operate from the left flank. Daniel Candeias works his socks off every time he starts and he should play from the right.
Attack
Quite easily the player of the season for Rangers, Alfredo Morelos should return to the lineup. The Colombian has already got a whopping 27 goals to his name this season and there is no doubt that he will go past the 30 goal mark sooner rather than later. He should lead the line after serving his suspension.
