Without any doubt, Alfredo Morelos has been the player of the season for Rangers as he has already netted in 28 goals in all competitions and we are still a fair bit away from the end of the season. After performances like that, there is no doubt that the Colombian forward would garner significant interest in the upcoming summer window and the striker too believes the same.
The latest comments from the forward suggest that he is ready to leave the club in the summer. The 22-year-old was quoted as saying on a Colombian Radio station (Via The Scottish Sun), ”There are many teams interested in me and a lot of them have watched me play. Most likely my transfer will be this summer. With the amount of goals I have scored, I know it has been noticed by European clubs.”
“I have always said I would like to play in the English Premier League. But my initial aim is to play in the Copa America this summer, which has always been a dream of mine. My mentality is that I have to keep working hard to get a place in the squad.”
So the forward is already preparing the Rangers faithful about a possible move in the future. To be fair, there hasn’t been too much doubt regarding Morelos’ future as it was always clear that the striker would move to bigger and better things. Rangers too must be aware of that, and they would be looking for a big money offer for their premium forward.
The former HJK Helsinki striker was targeted (The Scotsman) by French outfit Nice in the summer, but apparently, the £8m offer was not ‘nice’ enough from Rangers’ point of view. Not too long ago, Celtic sold Moussa Dembele for £20m in the summer, and there is no doubt that Steven Gerrard would be looking for a figure in that region for his Colombian forward.
However, Morelos’ on-field antics and his temperament would make quite a few clubs sceptical, and that might bring his value down as prospective clubs might consider him as a gamble. The fact of the matter is that the Colombian will provide goals when he is on the pitch, and hopefully with experience, he would learn to calm down.
The forward has everything to his game which a striker needs and he will be a good fit for quite a few clubs in the future. Rangers need to make sure that they get the best deal out of him in the summer so that they can look to bring in his replacement. Infact we are convinced that Gerrard should place a £20m price tag on the forward. If any club wants him, then they would have to pay top money.
