Manchester City will entertain Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening looking to keep the pressure on Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table. The Citizens have performed well in recent weeks to get themselves ahead of the Reds in the league standings, so Pep Guardiola would hope that his players can continue their good form and claim another important win versus the Pensioners this weekend.
The Mancunian outfit will lineup in a 4-3-3 formation with Kevin De Bruyne featuring in their midfield from the start of the encounter.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Chelsea
Defence
Ederson will start in goal for Guardiola’s side on Sunday after he managed to keep a clean sheet versus Everton in midweek. Arijanet Muric will play second-fiddle to him as the young keeper settles for a spot on the home team’s bench.
The ever-dependable centre-half duo of Aymeric Laporte and John Stones might be reunited at the heart of the Man City backline as they try to keep Gonzalo Higuain quiet on the day.
Danilo might get another chance to impress at left-back while Kyle Walker aims to use his pace on the other side as he resumes his duties as the right-back.
Man City will have another excellent opportunity to put the pressure on Liverpool by securing a victory against Maurizio Sarri’s men this weekend.
Midfield
Guardiola might opt for the midfield trio of Fernandinho, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva who would look to establish City’s dominance at the middle of the park. De Bruyne was rested in midweek so he might get the nod to start ahead of IIkay Gundogan for this weekend’s match at the Etihad Stadium.
However, we can expect the German midfielder to come on and make an impact in the second half if required.
Attack
Man City’s front three would be comprised of Sergio Aguero leading the charge on his own up top while Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane provide ammunition for the Argentine striker from the wide areas. Sane was poor against the Toffees on Wednesday night, so he needs to put in a much-improved performance versus Chelsea on Sunday.
The Mancunian giants would also have the likes of Bernardo Silva, Gabriel Jesus and Riyad Mahrez available on Guardiola’s bench as they look to play some part during the latter stages of the contest.
