According to a recent report by the Standard, Chelsea winger, Eden Hazard will once again be on top of Real Madrid’s summer wish-list as they look to finally land the Belgian talent at the end of this campaign.
The same source has also revealed that the Galacticos might be at an advantage now with Chelsea set to be handed a transfer ban for the next two transfer windows which will likely not be too good for their chances of convincing Hazard to commit his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.
This recent development will worry a lot of Chelsea fans as their beloved club could see one of its most prized possessions leave in the summer. Hazard has been a fantastic servant for the Blues of London over the past seven years. He has helped the West London outfit win two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and one League Cup since his high-profile switch from LOSC Lille in the summer of 2012.
The Belgian star knows that he needs to move soon if he wants to win more trophies and there is no bigger club than Real Madrid for him to fulfil his football ambitions. Hence, it seems like the Pensioners will find it difficult to keep hold of him beyond this summer especially if they lose their appeal to FIFA with regards to their transfer ban.
Hazard is incredibly quick and agile which helps him dribble with the ball and beat the opposition defenders. He is also a proven finisher in front of goal and knows how to create chances for his teammates in the final third. However, the La Louviere born sensation has sometimes blown hot and cold when his team is not playing well which has been a cause for concern during his spell at Stamford Bridge.
The potential departure of Hazard will significantly deplete Maurizio Sarri’s squad ahead of the new campaign. The Pensioners will likely not have the option to replace him immediately as they would be banned from making any new incoming transfers.
Hence, the West London giants should do everything they can to keep hold of Hazard for another season even though it will be easier said than done. At 28, the Belgian talent is currently playing at his peak so he won’t tolerate another season of mediocrity at Chelsea which will not work in Sarri’s favour. Thus, there are a lot of reasons to be concerned about Hazard’s long-term future at the Bridge.
