Celtic took on Hibernian FC at Celtic Park and came out victorious by 2-0 to keep their six-point lead on the top of table intact.
The game had a good tempo from the start, and Hibs were also able to create some early inroads. However, Celtic were the better side as they created plenty of opportunities. Ryan Christie opened the scoring from an excellent low pass down the right by new signing Jeremy Toljan.
Ryan Christie turned the provider in the second half as he found a good run of Oliver Burke who got lucky with a huge deflection and the ball ended up into the back of the net. After the second goal, the game was as good as over as the Hibs never looked like challenging the home team.
Here is how the Bhoys fared on the night.
Scott Bain 7
Is close to playing 1000 minutes of football without conceding. Had another untroubled game in goal as the Hibs didn’t threaten much. Was decent with his distribution.
Dedryck Boyata 7
Made a comeback into the starting eleven and did well with some crucial blocks and interceptions. Could have been on the score sheet as the opposition goalkeeper brilliantly denied his header.
Jozo Simunovic 7
Looked calm and assured on the ball and read the dangerous situations well and stopped them before they could develop further. Had one poor moment in the second half as he failed to judge the ball.
Emilio Izaguirre 7
Had a few sloppy moments in possession early on but improved as the game went on. Worked hard throughout the match. Went off with a bad injury which should concern the manager.
Jeremy Toljan 8
Got his first assist and never looked like he was making his full debut as his understanding with all his team-mates already looked on point. Always provided an option while going forward.
Scott Brown 8
The captain sat back and dictated the play. Was strong in his challenges and read the situation well as he kept on recycling the ball to keep his side on the front foot.
Callum McGregor 8
His passing range was simply outstanding as the midfielder created quite a few chances. A live wire in midfield.
Ryan Christie 8.5
Always occupied dangerous areas in the attacking third and finished well for the opening goal. Looked bright throughout the game with his intelligent movement and passing.
Timothy Weah 7.5
Played an important part in the first goal as he found Toljan with a smart pass. Once again proved his worth as he was direct in his approach and his movement in the final third was fantastic.
Scott Sinclair 7
Showed why he is getting regular starts as he made some impressive solo runs from the flanks. Came close to scoring but always seems to frustrate in the final third after doing all the hard work.
Oliver Burke 6.5
Once again led the line and got on the scoresheet. However, made some poor decisions in the final third. Still looked bright whenever he had the ball.
