Tottenham Hotspur will entertain their local North London rivals, Arsenal at the Wembley Stadium looking to bounce back from their miserable 2-0 defeat away at Chelsea in midweek. Spurs need to secure some favourable results soon or else risk being dragged back into the top 4 race which won’t be a pretty sight for any optimistic Tottenham supporter who was hoping for a title challenge instead.
On the other end, the Gunners are flying high and come into this contest on the back of a thumping 5-1 win over Bournemouth on Wednesday night.
Mauricio Pochettino could opt for a 4-4-2 formation and might choose to start with Serge Aurier at right-back for this weekend’s crucial clash for North London supremacy.
4-4-2 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup To Face Arsenal
Defence
Hugo Lloris will keep his place in goal for Spurs despite his poor performance against Chelsea in midweek. The French keeper could be shielded by the centre-half duo of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen as they aim to stop Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette from scoring this weekend. Kieran Trippier scored an unfortunate own goal versus the Pensioners which could mean that Serge Aurier takes his right-back place in Pochettino’s first-team. Danny Rose will get another chance to impress at left-back as he looks to link up play with Son and Eriksen down the left flank.
Tottenham have been guilty of conceding too many goals in recent weeks which doesn’t bode well for them ahead of their crucial derby against Arsenal on Saturday.
Midfield
Harry Winks will operate as the defensive enforcer in midfield while Moussa Sissoko and Christian Eriksen play just ahead of him as they try to create some good opportunities going forward. Lucas Moura might get a start in the number 10 position as he looks to play some final passes behind the Gunners backline for Kane and Son to chase down.
Attack
Pochettino might favour playing both Heung-min Son and Harry Kane up front. Both strikers shot blanks in midweek, but they have shown enough over the past few weeks to justify another start together in the attacking end of the pitch. With Harry Kane escaping punishment from the FA, the onus is on the Englishman to deliver against Arsenal.
Fernando Llorente is expected to be a part of the Spurs bench and could come on during the encounter if required.
