According to a recent report by the Guardian, Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic has handed in a transfer request to force a move through to Arsenal before Thursday’s transfer deadline. The same report has also revealed that the Gunners have made a loan offer with an option to buy the player for €40m next summer, but Inter has rejected the bid as they want the Croatian international to leave on a permanent basis this month.
In a recent interview mentioned in the Guardian, Inter Milan’s sporting director, Giuseppe Marotta said, “Perisic has asked to leave but there is no offer for him,”
“We will see in the coming days. We will listen to the request of Perisic. He has put in a transfer request; we must try to satisfy him but also respect the value of him.”
This recent development will be welcome news for the North London outfit as they attempt to strengthen their squad in January so that they can push on and secure a top 4 place in the Premier League at the end of this season.
The 29-year-old wide man has been an integral part of Luciano Spaletti’s team after he put in a string of dazzling performances at the San Siro during the course of this campaign. Perisic has managed to register 3 goals while creating five assists in 25 matches for the Italian heavyweights across all competitions this season.
The Split born star was an essential member of the Croatian national side and helped his country progress into the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. However, the European nation couldn’t get across the finish line as France beat them with a 4-2 scoreline in Russia to become the reigning world champions.
Perisic is vastly experienced after playing in a number of major leagues in European football during his career. So a move to the Premier League might not faze him at all as he has all the talents and the ‘know how’ to prove his worth in the top tier of England. The Croat talent has also tasted a lot of success and knows what it takes to win honours at the highest level.
Hence, he will be a fantastic addition to Emery’s squad at the Emirates during this winter transfer period. At 29, the Serie A star can still be a major headache for any defender when he operates down the left flank. He has also developed a knack for scoring and setting up goals consistently which is precisely what the doctor ordered at the North London club going into the second half of this campaign.
