It was a night of disappointment for Newcastle United at St James Park as Watford got the better of them to advance to the fifth round of the FA Cup. After a sedate first half, both teams tried to get the goals and Watford drew first blood through Andre Gray. Issac Success added a second in the 90th minute of the match to pile on more agony for the Magpies.
Here is how the Newcastle United players were rated from their defeat against Watford.
Freddie Woodman: 5
Could not do anything to stop the goals from being scored.
Javier Manquillo: 6
Tried to do his best playing out of position and did well while defending the long balls from Watford. Lacked the pace while going forward.
Federico Fernandez: 5
Could do nothing to stop Green from scoring the first goal. Looked fragile in defence.
Jamaal Lascelles: 5
Had a decent first half but looked absolutely out of sorts in the second.
Ciaran Clark: 4
Not his best day out on the pitch. Lacked physicality going into challenges and could not win most of them. Allowed Success to take a free shot and score the second goal in the last minute of the match.
Matt Ritchie: 6
Tried his best to get the ball up the pitch and initiate attacks from the back. Failed due to the lack of team support.
Kenedy: 5
Looked sharp on occasions but dished out a lacklustre overall performance.
Sean Longstaff: 4
Could not replicate his performance from the last round against Blackburn Rovers and was caught on the wrong foot quite a few times throughout the match.
Issac Hayden: 5
Gave away the ball away cheaply in the middle of the pitch numerous times.
Jamie Murphy: 6
Tried to initiate the attacks on a number of occasions in the first half. Lacked the composure in the second half though.
Joselu: 5
Nothing special from the Spaniard as he faltered in front of the goal once again.
Substitutes
Ayoze Perez: 6
Looked to add some energy to the side with his darting runs but could not do much harm to the Watford defence.
Christian Atsu: 4
Could not deliver much in his limited time on the pitch after replacing Ritchie.
Fabian Schar: NA
Played too little to warrant a rating.
