Newcastle United’s abysmal form continued to haunt their FA Cup campaign as the Magpies were held to a 1-1 draw in their own backyard by Blackburn Rovers. The Rovers took the lead in the 56th minute of the match through Bradley Dack. However, Matt Ritchie rescued a point from the game for Rafa Benitez’s men as he levelled the score from the spot in the 84th minute.
Here is how the Newcastle United players were rated from their draw against Blackburn Rovers.
Freddie Woodman: 6
Had a decent game in goal for the Magpies. Could not have done anything to prevent the goal.
Jamie Sterry: 6
Had a decent game overall.
Fabian Schar: 6
Tried his best to put the opposition under pressure with his physical presence and was somewhat successful in the first half as well. Looked out of colour in the second half though.
Florian Lejeune: 6
Did well in the first half to guard the backline after being handed a rare start. His loose marking in the second half, however, allowed Dack to score the goal.
Javier Manquillo: 6
Went up and down the pitch with brisk pace but lacked the accuracy in his passing.
Jacob Murphy: 7
Kept deceiving the Blackburn players with his classy footwork as he went in attack quite a few times.
Issac Hayden: 6
Put in a solid shift in the heart of the midfield but the accuracy in his passing was missing. Was substituted in the second half.
Sean Longstaff: 7
The youngster did well to fill in for Mo Diame as he toiled hard against the Blackburn players in the midfield. Took a few knocks and was substituted towards the end of the match.
Matt Ritchie: 7
Held his position well and took a few shots on goal. Slotted the ball past the Blackburn keeper from the spot to salvage a point for his side to set up a rematch.
Kenedy: 6
His bag of tricks was good enough to deceive the Blackburn defenders on a number of occasions, but the lack of finishing did not help his cause.
Joselu: 6
Took a few shots on the goal but his efforts were not good enough to get the better of the Blackburn keeper David Raya.
Substitutes
Jonjo Shelvey: 6
Did well in his short stint on the pitch.
Christian Atsu: NA
Played too little to warrant a rating.
Ayoze Perez: NA
Played too little to warrant a rating.
