Ever since Steven Gerrard took charge of Rangers, they have been linked with quite a few Liverpool players over the summer transfer period. To be fair, Gerrard had played a significant role in landing some of the talents from the Merseyside club.
The Bears managed to secure the services of Ovie Ejaria and Ryan Kent on loan. Ejaria might have cut short his loan spell but he did make an impact especially early on, and one wouldn’t be wrong in saying that the midfielder played a crucial role in the four gruelling rounds of the Europa League qualifiers.
Kent is currently the darling of the Gers fans, and his performance against Celtic is there for everyone to see. There is no doubt to us that the Gers would look to sign him permanently after his loan deal expires. Rangers though have lost the race to sign to Dominic Solanke as Bournemouth made an offer which was tough for Liverpool to refuse and the Cherries snapped him up for £19m.
Gerrard however, is still looking to do business with Liverpool, and this time they have been linked with a move for their young goalkeeper Kamil Grabara according to the Express. Grabara had played under Gerrard before when he was the manager of the Liverpool u-18 side, and it is believed that Gerrard is a big fan of the Polish custodian.
However, a signing like this doesn’t make sense to us as Rangers are well covered in the goalkeeper department. In Allan McGregor, they have the best goalkeeper in the league, and as a backup, the gaffer can call upon the services of Wes Foderingham, who isn’t too shoddy himself. Foderingham is only the second choice because of McGregor’s brilliance. Therefore we don’t see Grabara making an impact in the first team.
Maybe Foderingham could be sold by the club this month, and there were reports (Leeds Live) earlier that Leeds United could be interested in him. But those rumours have died down of late. It remains to be seen what would transpire in the next few days and whether the Gers would go through with this loan move for the Liverpool goalkeeper.
The 18-year-old youngster is highly rated, and he had been snapped up by Liverpool from Ruch Chorzow for a fee of £250,000 in 2016. Maybe Gerrard would want to make a permanent move for him somewhere in the future, and he is looking to bring him on loan to make him get the feel and environment of Rangers right now.
