Leeds United have been linked with a move with Hoffenheim winger Steven Zuber and Phil Hay of Yorkshire Evening Post recently confirmed that Leeds United have let their interest known in the player. The journalist also claimed that the deal is something which the Whites can pull off and we believe Marcelo Bielsa should make an approach for the winger this month.
This season, the winger has fallen down the pecking order at Hoffenheim as he has started just six games in the Bundesliga so far. However, Zuber still happens to be Nagelsmann’s go to man when there is a spot to be filled in the lineup as the Swiss international’s versatility allows him to play in various positions on the pitch.
Predominantly a left winger, Zuber can play in more central areas or as an attacking midfielder as well. To go with that, he has immense work rate, and that is the reason why he has even played as a fullback for his manager before. A player like him should be a dream for Bielsa as he often wants his players to be flexible and we have already seen various players playing in different positions at Leeds United.
Leeds United have done well to lead the table, and they look all set to move to the Premier League. However, they definitely have a razor-thin squad and with so many injuries, they have struggled to play specialist players in their natural position. Bielsa too recently went on to claim (Leeds Live) that they would need a winger now that Pablo Hernandez has been shifted to play in central areas after the departure of Samuel Saiz.
In Zuber, they would get a player who has the experience of playing in the Champions League, and we feel that he is one of the most notable names that has been linked with the Whites this month. His work rate is precisely what Bielsa demands from his players, and there should not be any doubt that Zuber would be a significant addition if United manage to pull off this deal.
It will be a real shame if the Whites miss out on moving to the Premier League because they lacked squad depth. Leeds shouldn’t let this golden opportunity pass by when such a reliable journalist like Hay has confirmed that the 27-year-old is an attainable target. The club should get to business and look to pull this deal off as soon as possible and that would definitely put them in a good place to move to the Premier League.
