According to a recent report by talkSPORT, Manchester United are interested in securing the services of Yannick Carrasco from Dalian Yifang. The Belgian winger’s wife, Noemie Happart, has recently revealed that the Red Devils are very interested in bringing him to Old Trafford and in an interview with RTBF Sport, she said,
“They [Manchester United] are very interested.
“I do not hide it but nothing is signed. Yannick and his club leave tomorrow in preparation in Spain.
“Yannick feels good in China but it’s a very different culture, it’s far from our families and our friends.
“But it is true that when we heard that some clubs were interested in Yannick, it interested us too.
“Now, we will see how it will happen, how things will unfold and who knows, we can go back in Europe.”
This recent revelation will be a welcome one for the United supporters who are desperate to see their team add some quality to their squad and challenge for major silverware once again over the next few years.
The 25-year-old prospect was in fine form for Dalian Yifang last season when he had featured in 25 matches in the Chinese Super League, finding the back of the net seven times while creating nine assists. He has also earned 35 international caps for the Belgian national side and has five goals to his name for his country.
The Belgian talent rose to prominence during his time with Atletico Madrid where he won the UEFA Europa League under Diego Simeone’s tutelage before making a switch to China back in February 2018.
Carrasco is blessed with blistering pace and can beat his marker due to his exceptional ball control which helps him dribble with the ball with ease and grace. The former Genk prospect is also quite versatile and can operate anywhere across the frontline, although, he primarily plays as a left wide man up top.
The potential acquisition of Carrasco will undoubtedly add a lot of quality to this Man United team. However, one could argue that the Mancunian outfit has already got a lot of options out in the wide areas such as Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Alexis Sanchez, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard and Andreas Pereira. Thus, Ed Woodward should instead splash the cash on strengthening some of the other areas of Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s squad before he opts to sign someone like Carrasco, who clearly has a lot of quality but is not what the Red Devils are in need of right now.
