According to The Daily Star, Manchester United are looking to make a stunning move for Barcelona ace Philippe Coutinho, which may involve as much as £100m as the transfer fee.
The Brazilian forward, who left Liverpool in the last season to join the Catalan giants, has fallen out of favour with manager Ernesto Valverde and might be on his way out of Nou Camp very soon.
The Blaugrana were desperate to get the player in the last season and spent a total of £142m on the brilliant Brazilian. However, it seems that the player has not been the same impact player he was hailed for at Liverpool and has been left out of the first team on some occasions this season with the likes of Arturo Vidal and Ousmane Dembele preferred over him in the Barcelona squad.
Barcelona, at the present moment, have the likes of Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembele to pair up with Luis Suarez up front and lead the attack. However, a player of Coutinho’s calibre is an asset to any team in the world, and Barcelona should not let him leave just after one season at Nou Camp.
The Brazilian ace is a very versatile player and can be used in a variety of positions in the midfield as well as attack. Coutinho has not been influential during his time with the Catalan giants so far, but the Blaugrana should consider the fact that he has spent only one season at Nou Camp before they take any decision regarding his future.
Given that Ernesto Valverde is a wise tactician, he should consider getting a viable replacement for the former Liverpool star in case he lets him leave. The Spaniard should be well aware of the fact that the Brazilian is one of the most versatile players in Europe at the moment and allowing him to leave would not be a very wise decision.
It is true that the Brazilian has not bee able to weave his magic so far at the Spanish outfit but he should be handed more opportunities. With Ousmane Dembele suffering so much with his fitness and injury problems, and Arturo Vidal not getting any younger with time; it would be a wise decision for the reigning La Liga champions to make Coutinho stay put at Nou Camp for some more time.
