Manchester United continued their juggernaut under the new manager as they are yet to drop points under Ole Gunnar Solskjær and they secured a 2-1 win over Brighton and Hove Albion.
United started off well and were quick to come out of the blocks. Paul Pogba who looks wholly transformed after the departure of Jose Mourinho continued the excellent work and won a penalty which he himself converted to give the home side a lead. Marcus Rashford added the second after some brilliant individual work.
Brighton did apply some late pressure, and Pascal Gross brought the Seagulls into the game. However, United had enough in the tank to see out a win.
Here is how the Red Devils fared in this game.
David De Gea 6
A spectator for the most parts of the game. Couldn’t have done much for the goal he conceded. Looked steady apart from that.
Ashley Young 6
Was found out defensively on a few occasions. Made constant movement up the pitch but lacked the final delivery.
Phil Jones 6
Did enough, in the end, to see out the game but had some nervy moments as well. Was dogged and determined in his approach though.
Victor Lindelof 7.5
Read the situation well, and his pressing was impressive. His distribution from the back was also worth mentioning. Slowly establishing himself as the best centre half in the squad.
Diogo Dalot 6
Made some impressive forward runs but still needs to improve on quite a few aspects. Can be blamed for Gross’ goal.
Ander Herrera 7.5
Worked his socks off like always. Played with passion and intensity and won quite a few duels. Did the nitty gritty job well.
Nemanja Matic 7
Was at his best as he was turning the ball quickly from back to front. Played a key pass for the opener. Defensively was impeccable for the most parts and his reading of the game makes him one of the best defensive midfielders around.
Paul Pogba 6.5
Won the penalty and scored but lacked a bit of firepower today which he can produce on his day. Had a slightly off day from previous games but nevertheless did enough in the end.
Jesse Lingard 7
Was energetic and came close to scoring. His movement, touches and flicks were often brilliant
Anthony Martial 6.5
Always looked to drive the ball forward. Was a constant threat but lacked the killer instinct. Apart from that, worked hard and got into some dangerous areas.
Marcus Rashford 8
United have benefitted immensely from giving him the striker’s role, and Rashford continued to impress. Scored a great goal by finishing well and was a major threat whenever he had the ball.
