Wolves are set to take on Liverpool in their FA Cup third round fixture as they hope to cause a major upset. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men had to taste defeat in their last outing against the Reds in the Premier League and would look to take revenge when the two teams face each other at the Molineux.
It would definitely not be an easy task for the hosts given the purple patch that Jurgen Klopp’s men have hit this season. However, the fact that the German gaffer might not risk a few of his key players in this match could provide the Wolves with an edge over the visitors as they might go in with a full-strength squad.
Team News
Nuno Espirito Santo does not have any major injury concern ahead of the crucial matchup except Diogo Jota, who is set to miss the clash with a thigh injury. Defender Romain Saiss is also injured and would be assessed before the match.
Goalkeeper
Veteran custodian John Ruddy is expected to replace Rui Patricio in the starting lineup as the Portuguese international gets a much-deserved rest ahead of a busy schedule in the Premier League.
Defence
The three-man backline would feature captain Conor Coady, Ryan Bennett and Kortney Hause. Portuguese defensive ace Willy Boly could be rested for the match.
Midfield
Matt Doherty starts in the wingback role in the right side of the midfield while Ruben Vinagre replaces Jonny on the left-hand side. Leander Dendoncker is expected to start the proceedings in the middle of the pitch alongside the Portuguese maestro Ruben Neves, who might play a major role in his side’s success in the next match.
Attack
Raul Jimenez might be rested for this match as Leo Bonatini could lead the line for the Wolves. He would be accompanied by Helder Costa, who starts as the wide attacker on the left-hand side. Adama Traore is expected to put in a shift from the right to complete the attacking trio for the Wolves.
Predicted Formation: 3-4-3
