According to renowned reporter David Ornstein, as mentioned by the Daily Star, Arsenal are weighing up a move to secure the services of Denis Suarez from Barcelona during the January transfer window. However, the same report has also stated that any move for the Catalans midfielder will be on a loan deal.
The Spanish midfielder has hardly featured for Barca this season but has still managed to find the back of the net twice in six matches across all competitions.
He needs to move on to greener pastures in this winter transfer window so that he has a shot at reigniting his career away from the Nou Camp. The Gunners could provide him with an escape route out of Catalunya by bringing him to the Emirates Stadium as they are in need of a creative force in midfield.
Suarez can read the game well at the middle of the park and is also an excellent dribbler with the ball out of tight spaces. The Spanish talent can also pick out a final pass from midfield which is one of the many reasons why he is playing for an elite club like Barcelona.
Denis Suarez’s potential departure in January won’t affect the Barca first-team at all as he has hardly featured in Ernesto Valverde’s first-team this season. Barca currently have the likes of Phillipe Coutinho, Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic, Rafinha and Sergio Busquets operating for a place in midfield along with Suarez. So it is safe to say that the Spanish heavyweights are well covered as far as the central midfield position is concerned.
Hence, it makes sense for him to make a switch to North London even if it is on a temporary basis as it would be a good chance for him to test himself in one of the most challenging leagues in world football. If things work out for the Spaniard, Barca might get a much more improved version of Suarez next summer who could be capable enough to compete for a place in Valverde’s starting XI.
For now, it might be a wise move for the Catalans to let him leave so that Suarez can get some valuable experience at a top club outside Spain.
