According to a recent report by the Sun, Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin is set to miss the remainder of this campaign due to a knee injury which he sustained during the Gunners’ 2-0 win over Chelsea last weekend. The Sun has also mentioned that the Spanish full-back could be out of action for up to nine months which will be a cause for significant concern for anyone associated with Arsenal.
Bellerin has enjoyed a successful campaign for the North London outfit this season and had caught the eye with some outstanding displays down the right side of the Gunners defence. He will be a massive miss for Unai Emery’s side in their quest to secure a top 4 spot at the end of this campaign.
Let’s take a look at three replacements for the Gunners to consider during this January transfer period.
Álvaro Odriozola
The Real Madrid defensive ace has a promising future and could become one of the best right-backs in Europe in a few years time if given a nurturing environment to continue with his development. Emery could consider bringing him to North London in January as he would be an ideal replacement for the injured, Bellerin.
Elseid Hysaj
The Albanian full-back has caught the eye with some solid displays for Napoli this season. He has been a fantastic asset for Carlo Ancelotti’s team and could serve as a perfect replacement for Bellerin at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners can also benefit from recruiting a player like Hysaj due to his incredible versatility of playing across multiple positions across the backline.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka
The Crystal Palace full-back has been a real revelation for Roy Hodgson’s team this season. The 21-year-old defender has featured in 25 matches for the Selhurst-outfit this term and has two assists to his name in all competitions. He will not only be an excellent fit for Arsenal but would also provide some added quality to Emery’s backline.
Although, he is yet to set the Premier League alight going forward yet it is his defensive qualities that have earned a lot of plaudits from pundits and fans alike.
