Manchester City will look to defend their Carabao Cup title when they take on Burton Albion in the first leg of the semi-final which will be played at the Etihad Stadium. The Citizens have bounced back from the setback that they experienced towards the end of the last year and have won against league leaders Liverpool in the Premier League. They have also advanced to the fourth round of the FA Cup by beating Rotherham in their last outing and would be confident of a positive result against Burton as well.
Burton, on the other hand, pulled off a major upset as they defeated Middlesbrough to advance to the semi-final of the Carabao Cup. Though it would be too much to expect them to beat the reigning Premier League and Carabao Cup champions, the Citizens could be in for a good contest in their own backyard.
Team News
Manchester City have a fully fit squad at their disposal, barring the long term absentees Bernard Mendy and Claudio Bravo. This will surely be a big boost for Pep Guardiola going into the next match against Burton.
Goalkeeper
Arijanet Muric is set to start in the goal for the Citizens as Ederson would be rested against Burton.
Defence
Nicolas Otamendi and Vincent Kompany would guard the heart of the defence. Fabian Delph would accompany them on the left-hand side of the defence while Danilo would put in a shift as the right back.
Midfield
Oleksandr Zinchenko is expected to replace Fernandinho in the defensive midfielder role as the Brazilian should receive some well-deserved rest. Phil Foden and Ilkay Gundogan would start ahead of him in the midfield, leaving Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva on the bench.
Attack
Sergio Aguero is expected to lead the line for the Citizens. He would be accompanied by Riyad Mahrez from the right as the wide attacker while Leroy Sane puts in a shift from the left to take the attack to the opposition.
Predicted Formation: 4-3-3
