Manchester City will take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad Stadium looking to build on their 2-1 win over Liverpool in the Premier League earlier this month. The Citizens are currently trailing the Reds by 4 points in the title race so a win would ensure that the Mancunian giants don’t lose any ground in their relentless pursuit of Jurgen Klopp’s men.
However, Wolves will be far from pushovers, and it is expected that they would give Pep Guardiola’s side a really good game after their recent success against Liverpool in the FA Cup. The Citizens will line up in a 4-3-3 formation with Sergio Aguero returning to their starting XI as the centre-forward.
4-3-3 Manchester City Predicted Lineup To Face Wolves
Defence
Ederson is City’s undisputed number one keeper so he should start in goal against Wolves on Monday night while Arijanet Muric has to be content with a place on Guardiola’s bench. The Brazilian shot-stopper managed to keep a rare clean sheet against Rotherham in the FA Cup last week which would give him some confidence heading into this clash.
The dynamic defensive pair of Aymeric Laporte and John Stones would continue to feature in central defence as they look to play the ball out from the back. Fabian Delph is expected to feature at left-back while Kyle Walker aims to use his incredible pace to cause problems in the opposition half down the right flank.
Man City will have an excellent opportunity to close the gap to Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table, so they need to keep things stable defensively if they are to come away with maximum points from this contest.
Midfield
The trio of Fernandinho, Bernardo Silva and David Silva are expected to start at the centre of the park. All three of them have worked well together in recent weeks and seems to have earned Guardiola’s vote of confidence after putting in a string of impressive displays in their past few league starts.
Kevin De Bruyne is slowly but surely returning to his best and could feature in the second half from the bench if needed.
Attack
Man City’s front three would be comprised of Sergio Aguero leading the lines for the home team while Raheem Sterling looks to use his quickness and trickery down the right flank. Leroy Sane is arguably City’s most in-form player at this moment so he will undoubtedly start on the left side of the Citizens frontline as he looks to get to the by-line to cause a lot of headaches for the Wolves defenders.
Both Gabriel Jesus and Riyad Mahrez should be available on the bench and might come on during the latter stages of the encounter to make an impact.
