Aston Villa will entertain Swansea City at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon hoping to keep their FA Cup dreams alive in front of their loyal home supporters. The Villans have had a rollercoaster of a campaign in the EFL Championship this term but need to satisfy their fans with a good cup run this year.
However, it won’t be easy against their Welsh opponents who secured a dominant 4-1 win over Reading on New Year’s Day. Dean Smith will likely opt for a 4-3-3 formation and might make a few changes to his team for this match.
4-3-3 Aston Villa Predicted Lineup To Face Swansea City
Defence
Jed Steer could get another start in goal for the Villans despite conceding two goals against Queens Park Rangers on New Year’s Day. The English shot-stopper needs to put in a much-improved display against the Swans if his side is to progress into the next round of the competition.
The defensive pairing of James Bree and James Chester might start at the middle of Dean Smith’ backline. Alan Hutton will likely put in a sharp display at left-back while Ahmed Elmohamady will operate on the other side as the right-back hoping to join in on the attack at every chance that he can get.
Midfield
The Villans midfield would be composed of Glenn Whelan, who will operate as the defensive midfield destroyer while John McGinn and Conor Hourihane look to be more creative and adventurous ahead of him. The trio have done well in recent weeks, but they need to retain possession more at the centre of the pitch. So this match against the Swans could serve as a good chance for them to show what they are made of here.
Hourihane found the back of the net versus the Swans the last time the two teams met against each other so he would be looking forward to playing this weekend.
Attack
Smith’s front three might be comprised of Yannick Bolasie, Albert Adomah and Tammy Abraham who would all hope to impress against Swansea on Saturday afternoon.
Abraham will be a confident forward at Villa Park as he is in a rich vein of form after scoring three goals in his last two league starts for the Villans.
