According to a recent report by the Evening Standard, Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to lose the race to sign Victor Moses from Chelsea during the January transfer window. The same report states that Crystal Palace are expected to win the chase for the Nigerian speedster’s signature next month as the player favours a move back to his old club, eight years after he parted ways with the Eagles.
Moses’ Lack Of First-Team Chances This Season
The former Liverpool winger has been a sporadic presence in Maurizio Sarri’s first-team this season. He has hardly featured for the Pensioners during this campaign and needs to find a new club next month if he wants to secure some regular first-team opportunities in the coming years. The 28-year-old has made just six appearances for Chelsea this term but is yet to find the back of the net so far.
Having represented England at various youth levels, Moses decided to play for the Nigerian national side and has earned 38 international caps for his country while scoring 12 goals in the process. He is also quite versatile due to his ability to play on either flank both as an attacker or in a more restricted role as a full-back.
What Does The Nigerian Forward Offer On The Pitch?
Moses is blessed with incredible pace and is a very useful dribbler with the ball down the wide areas. He is always willing to run at the opposing defenders and will also work his socks off on the pitch when he is committed to the cause. Moreover, his ability to play in multiple positions make him a worthy asset for any of his potential suitors.
Huge Blow For Wolves?
Missing out on Moses will be a big blow for Wolves as they are in dire need of more quality in the attacking third of the pitch. Other than Raul Jimenez, none of Nuno Espirito Santo’s forwards have been able to score goals consistently this season. Hence, Moses’ addition would have undoubtedly improved their attack and added more competition for places down the flanks.
The West Midlands outfit will now have to search for an alternative if they are to sign a new winger when the transfer window reopens next month.
