Tottenham Hotspur will go head to head with Southampton at the Wembley Stadium this week as they look to bounce back from their humiliating 4-2 loss away at Arsenal on Sunday. Spurs are in dire need of a positive result from this contest as they are trying to push up the league table to catch up with their top 4 rivals.
Mauricio Pochettino could stick with his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation and might make a few changes for this crucial midweek encounter in the Premier League.
4-2-3-1 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup To Face Southampton
Defence
Hugo Lloris will feature in goal for Spurs despite shipping in four goals against Arsenal last weekend. The French keeper will be hoping for a much-improved showing versus the Saints this week as Pochettino’s men look to return to winning ways on Wednesday night.
The North London outfit will be boosted by the return of Toby Alderweireld in defence especially in the absence of Jan Vertonghen who was sent off during the North London derby. Juan Foyth might start alongside Alderweireld as the centre-back duo aims to secure a much-needed clean sheet this week.
Serge Aurier will continue at right-back in the absence of the injured, Kieran Trippier while Danny Rose would come into Pochettino’s first-team to play on the left side of the Tottenham backline.
Midfield
Spurs might have an all English midfield duo at the base of midfield with both Eric Dier and Harry Winks in line to start against the Saints in midweek. The trio of Lucas Moura, Christian Eriksen and Heung-min Son could feature ahead of them as they look to threaten in and around the opposition penalty box.
Dele Alli will provide some added firepower from Pochettino’s bench, but Erik Lamela would be in a race against time to be fit for this clash at Wembley.
Attack
Harry Kane will be deployed as the lone centre-forward up top. The English talent has slowly returned to form and is now looking like a confident striker in front of goal. The Tottenham superstar has enjoyed a rich vein of form of late so we can expect him to score on Wednesday night.
