Huddersfield Town are once again going to be under the pump for a relegation scrap after their last season heroics. They have won just twice in the 15 games they have played so far and are currently the lowest scoring team in the Premier League. However, if one would see their games, its clear that they are creating decent enough opportunities and with a more clinical striker up front, they could have had better return in front of goal.
To solve that issue, they can look for a striker in the January transfer market and not too long ago reports from Sky Sports suggested that the Terriers could look to bring Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke on loan. The English forward has failed to gain any kind of game time with the Reds this season as he has been unable to earn a place even in the matchday squads.
The striker is going to be hot property come the January transfer window as clubs like Crystal Palace and West Ham are also interested. Jurgen Klopp suggested that the English forward could be sent on loan in the winter period as Solanke has been plying his trade in the Premier League 2 so far this season.
There doesn’t seem to be any way back for the 21-year-old in the playing eleven as Liverpool currently have the likes of Roberto Firmino, Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi who can start up front.
Last season, Solanke got his chances as Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi were both out on loan, but the striker only managed one goal in 21 appearances in the Premier League. However, to be fair to him, he came on as a late substitute in quite a few of those games. But the general notion was that Solanke was not yet ready to lead the line for a club of Liverpool’s stature.
Solanke has all the elements to be a top striker as he seems to have everything in his repertoire. His record with the Three Lions U-21 team has been exemplary so far, and he was even fast-tracked into the senior squad. However, he needs to play regularly at the club level to be in contention to break into the England squad, and we believe Huddersfield could be the team which gives him the much-needed game time.
Given the relationship which David Wagner and Jurgen Klopp share, the Terriers have a decent chance to land this forward. That would solve some of their goal-scoring woes as Steve Mounie, and Laurent Depoitre have been misfiring so far. Wagner should definitely try his luck in January to land this Liverpool forward on loan.
